This marks the first instance of a cRPG set in the foreboding landscape of Warhammer 40,000’s far future. Pre-purchasers of any version of the game can dive into the Beta starting from today. The Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s closed Beta significantly increases the playable content, extending from the prologue to the first three chapters. The Beta gives a grand introduction to the game, allowing players to experience the journey from the humble beginnings to earning the prestigious title of a Lord Captain in the Prologue and Act I. The adventure continues through Act II and finally culminates in the dark city of Commorragh, the haunt of the treacherous Drukhari, in Act III.
Exciting companions await players in the Beta. One standout character is Ulfar, a formidable Adeptus Astartes from the Space Wolves chapter, who joins the fight in the name of the Emperor. The Beta version also boasts an expanded character creation process, a revamped progression system, a unique progression tree for the navigator, and the much-anticipated ability for the main character to play as a psyker.
The closed Beta debuts the Convictions system, which allows players’ decisions to create lasting impacts in the full game version. Players can accumulate points towards Imperialis, Benevolentia, or Hereticus, unlocking new dialogue options and perks.
Significant updates have also been made to space combat and colonization, including new backgrounds, a refined HUD, improved combat grid visuals, and many gameplay and balance changes. However, this only scratches the surface of the plethora of enhancements in the Beta.
The Beta version will remain live until the official release of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, offering the opportunity for all those who pre-purchase any founder’s pack to get an early taste of the game. Note that in-game progress from the Beta will not carry over to the full version.
