Hey there, cycling enthusiasts and virtual tour de France champions! Exciting news just landed on our desks that’s bound to get your wheels spinning. NACON and Cyanide Studio have just dropped the first gameplay trailer for Tour de France 2023 and Pro Cycling Manager 2023, and it’s a doozy!
Set to release on 8 June 2023, the latest editions of these iconic cycling games are introducing a whole slew of improvements, including a thrilling new “Downhill of the Moment” game mode. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, there’s a lot to unpack!
“On Yer Bike!” – Tour de France 2023
In Tour de France 2023, get ready to virtually saddle up and race in some of the most prestigious races in the cycling calendar. This means not only the Tour de France, but also other classic races like the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Paris-Nice, and Paris-Roubaix. As a player, you’ll have the chance to be a rider for one of the 27 World Tour and Pro Tour teams in a variety of game modes.
The game is introducing a few new features that will certainly add more realism and strategic depth. The “Downhill of the Moment” mode, for instance, focuses on downhill stretches, testing your ability to strategise in a different way. Additionally, the introduction of Agility and Medium Mountain ratings promise more unexpected incidents and varied paths for the riders. Updated rider equipment, more distinctive bibs, and various technical improvements are also part of the package.
“Manage Your Way to the Podium!” – Pro Cycling Manager 2023
Over on the management side, Pro Cycling Manager 202
3, which is also set to release on the same day, lets you take on the role of a sports director for your very own cycling team.
You get to scout and select riders from every World Tour and Pro Team, preparing them to take part in over 130 races available in the game. But it’s not just about racing, as a redesigned world ranking system, a new system for managing nation registration for the World Championships, and an improved training system, among other features, make sure you’ve got your work cut out for you.
The improved user interfaces in Pro Cycling Manager 2023 will make it easier to manage your team, and the addition of real-life training locations promises an extra layer of authenticity for cycling fans. Also, the new “Medium Mountain” rating brings an added dimension to how you’ll strategise your team’s performance.
Both Tour de France 2023 and Pro Cycling Manager 2023 will be available on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), with the former also being available on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
