First Competitive Season of Blood Bowl 3 Kicks Off on 22 June, With Lizardmen Lining Up!
Gather round, coaches, the sporting news you’ve been waiting for is finally here! Revealed as part of the Warhammer Skulls Showcase, Cyanide Studio and NACON announced that the first competitive season of Blood Bowl 3 will touchdown on 22 June. But that’s not all, folks, a brand-new Lizardmen faction is also warming up to invade the pitch.
Available on PC, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S * and Xbox One *, Blood Bowl 3 is set to shake things up this season with a fresh batch of features and some serious gameplay enhancements. On the line-up, we’ve got a Competitive Mode, a Blood Pass with 50 reward tiers, and, drum roll please, the aforementioned scaly Lizardmen faction.
Ready for more good news? The Season 1 Blood Pass, which includes the Lizardmen and a whole host of cosmetic items, can be unlocked for free by all players during the season.
What’s fresh this season, you ask? Well, prepare yourself for new systems: an official Ladder, the Blood Pass, and a progression system that allows you to level up and unlock rewards. The Blood Pass will be free for all and will grant you access to the new Lizardmen faction immediately. Plus, a major community-requested feature will also be added this season – the ability for players to reconnect to their game for a limited time if they are disconnected.
This is something we think should have been in the game from day one, especially with the challenges we faced in our community games but this is a welcome update and moves us one step closer to being able to play Blood Bowl 3 as a Community Game.
Keen on shaking up your Blood Bowl 3 strategy? Give the Lizardmen a whirl. This faction stands out with its blend of strong and sturdy players, and fast and agile ones. Although their passing game might not be the best out there, Lizardmen certainly become more powerful with experience and are an especially shrewd choice for experienced trainers!
Oh, and don’t forget about the ongoing promotions as part of the Warhammer Skulls event. Available on all platforms until 1 June, be sure to take advantage of these deals!
In case you’re not familiar with the game, Blood Bowl 3 is a turn-based strategy game inspired by American Football in the Warhammer Fantasy World. As the coach, your job is to guide your team of Elves, Humans, Orcs and other creatures to victory, using whatever means necessary – including shoulder charges, kicks, punches and a variety of weapons (of varying degrees of legality!).
After a more than slightly rocky launch, reflected in it’s Mostly Negative reviews on Steam, it’s nice to see more content and updates coming to Blood Bowl 3, as a franchise I’ve played hundreds of hours in I was disappointed with the huge holes in functionality in release and game-breaking bugs and I’m excited to see how things shape up over the next few months as Blood Bowl 3 gets more of the basic functionality I feel it should have launched with.
We want to know – are you excited for the first competitive season of Blood Bowl 3? What are your thoughts on the new Lizardmen faction? Share your thoughts in the comments below or join the conversation in the Gaming.Buzz Community Discord.
