As marketing stunts go, this one really puts all others to the sword (sorry!) The team behind Final Fantasy XVI have teamed up with major film armourer Tod Todeschini (Snow White and the Huntsman, Robin Hood) to create a full-sized replica of their protagonists’ sword. The sword – named Invictus – has been created in partnership with the Royal Armouries, the museum that houses the weapons and armour worn by United Kingdom royalty. What’s more, the sword will now go on display at the Tower of London for one month – the first time a sword from a video game has been displayed in the Royal Armouries.

The sword is on display now until July 19th in the White Tower museum on the first floor, part of the Tower of London, and can be seen through a general admission ticket. For those who can’t make it across to London to take in the blade, Square Enix has also put together a brief video trailer showing the weapon and a few of the other exhibits it will now sit alongside. The partnership has been put together to celebrate the release of Final Fantasy XVI which releases tomorrow, June 22nd 2023.
Will you be taking the time to visit the Tower in the coming weeks? Are you content just to play the game when it arrives? Have you got your preorder in, or downloaded the demo? Come and share your thoughts on the Gaming.Buzz Community Discord!
