Empires of the Undergrowth: The Culling 2 – Surviving Against All Odds
Today, UK-based developer Slug Disco Studios and Hooded Horse have announced the latest bonus scenario for Empires of the Undergrowth, the thematic strategy game that puts you in charge of an ant colony, The Culling 2, which will be the final installment in the “Sequel Season” series of bonus levels.
In The Culling 2, players are taken back to the swamp where they must survive for six nights against legions of nighttime invaders. This survival scenario introduces players to the big-headed ants, who are a force to be reckoned with.
Everyone’s favorite Pheidole morrisii (or big-headed ants to the rest of us) feature in their first stand-alone level, and these formidable formicidae will help you hold the line as they charge and crush their enemies with a single bite. Players must try to manage enemy numbers during the day while also gathering food to survive the night because if left unchecked, the enemy will build up until the colony is overwhelmed.
Slug Disco Studios say the “Sequel Season” has been a great success, with Occupation 2, Tug of War 2, and Enemy of My Enemy 2 all offering new challenges for their respective locations. The Culling’s second outing will cap off the season in style in the North Carolina swamps.
Empires of the Undergrowth is available in early access on PC via Steam, GOG * (where you can save 10% at the time of writing), and the Epic Games Store for $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99 / ¥2,480. If you’re a fan of strategy games or just love the idea of managing your own ant colony, then Empires of the Undergrowth is the game for you.
