Greetings, Night City dwellers! If you’re still roaming the neon-lit streets of Cyberpunk 2077 or contemplating a return, we’ve got some thrilling news for you. CD Projekt Red has unleashed Update 2.0, and it’s a game-changer in every sense. From fundamental gameplay shifts to countless fixes and optimizations, this update is poised to redefine your Night City experience.

The Police are Watching: A New Law in Town

One of the most significant changes in this update is the complete revamp of the police system. Now, when you commit a crime, the NCPD won’t take it lightly. Their response depends on your NCPD Wanted Level. Brace yourself for high-speed chases, roadblocks, and even MaxTac swooping in with AVs. The NCPD isn’t confined to static locations either; they’re actively patrolling Night City streets, ensuring a more immersive experience. And, if you’re tech-savvy, you can even quickhack NCPD officers. So, remember, every action has consequences in this urban jungle.

Vehicular Mayhem: Shoot from the Driver’s Seat

Driving around Night City takes on a new dimension with Update 2.0. You can now engage in combat while cruising in your vehicle, either from a first-person or third-person perspective. Unleash pistols, submachine guns, and even melee attacks (on motorcycles) to fend off adversaries. Some vehicles come equipped with mounted weaponry, adding firepower to your ride. And yes, you can shoot out those pesky vehicle tires too. The introduction of new perks lets you tailor your vehicle’s capabilities, from quickhacking cars to boosting their weaponry. Brace for unpredictable AI-driven faction clashes on the city’s streets, adding yet another layer of chaos.

Perks, Skills, and Cyberware – A Fresh Approach

Update 2.0 brings a complete overhaul of the Perk system. Fewer perks pack a more significant punch, affecting gameplay in meaningful ways. Progressing in specific Perk trees unlocks special abilities, making your character more unique than ever. The Skills system has also been streamlined into five distinct categories, allowing for greater flexibility in character progression. And don’t worry about your past investments; your Perk points have been refunded. So, go ahead, redefine your character and playstyle.

Weapons, Cyberware, and More

Iconic weapons have received unique tweaks, emphasizing their distinctive traits. A “first equip” animation adds a touch of realism to your arsenal. With the inclusion of smoke grenades, new melee weapon finishers, and even a Thermal Katana, the combat possibilities have expanded dramatically. Crafting weapon mods has been simplified, requiring only one type of component. Furthermore, crafting and upgrading no longer demand multiple components. And in a nod to immersion, cyberware is now your primary source of armor, making clothing mostly a cosmetic choice.

Traffic and Pedestrian Behaviour

Night City’s traffic has received a substantial upgrade. NPCs will now navigate traffic intelligently, avoiding obstacles and pedestrians. Expect more realistic traffic behavior, with NPCs reacting differently to your actions. For instance, hijacking a vehicle might elicit an aggressive response from its owner. As the city pulsates with life, these enhancements make Night City feel more alive than ever before.

UI Improvements and Quest Fixes

The user interface has seen several updates, making it more intuitive and informative. The quest journal has a cleaner look, allowing for easier navigation. You can now untrack quests and benefit from a revamped phone UI. Item tooltips are more straightforward, displaying vital information clearly. Additionally, quest fixes ensure a smoother gameplay experience, resolving issues in several missions.

Stability and Performance

Stability and optimization have been at the forefront of CD Projekt Red’s efforts. Numerous fixes and improvements address crashes and performance hiccups, promising a smoother gameplay experience.
