Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios have announced they’ve sold a whopping 250,000 copies of Age of Wonders 4 in the first four days since its launch on May 2, 2023. That’s right, just four days! Talk about conquering the realm at warp speed!
This record-breaking sale includes both standard and premium editions of the game and spans across all platforms – PC, PlayStation®5, and Xbox Series X and S consoles. These numbers are quite the testament to the success of the series so far, making “Age of Wonders 4” the fastest-selling title in the Age of Wonders series to date.
The folks over at Paradox and Triumph are chuffed to bits with the game’s success. Paradox Interactive’s CEO, Fredrik Wester, commented on the close relationship both companies share, and how they’ve worked hand in glove to create the latest instalment of the series. And according to him, while the game takes some inspiration from other Paradox titles, it unmistakably keeps Triumph’s signature style and perfect blend of strategy, role-playing, and fantasy storytelling.
“There’s always a delicate balancing act involved in designing a sequel, especially for a long-running series with so many dedicated fans,” said Lennart Sas, Co-founder of Triumph Studios and Director of Age of Wonders 4. “It’s incredible to see what the reception has been from both series veterans and brand-new players. We’re all loving the custom factions our fans are sharing, the clever strategies and guides that are popping up, and the wonderful, kind words we’ve seen in reviews and social media. But it seems their efforts were worth it, given the warm reception from both veterans and newbies alike. What’s more, the team at Triumph is absolutely loving the custom factions, strategies, and guides fans are sharing on various platforms. And they’re not stopping here – they’ve promised more content and updates are on their way.
